I’ve always said there are three types of people.
- A person that is in a storm
- A person that just came out of a storm
- A person that’s about to go into a storm.
Our lives are full of highs and lows, ups and downs, peaks and valleys, good and bad times. It’s inevitable that we will be faced with some tough circumstances in life. SOMETIMES ADVERSITY IS A GREAT TEACHER
The Bible teaches that we should be like a wise man and build our house on a ROCK. When the storms come and beat against that house, it will stand because it was built on ROCK. It also teaches about the foolish man who builds his house on sand. When the storms came and beat against that house, it collapsed. (Matthew 7)
When it comes to overcoming adversity, how do you handle it?
As a 21 year old college student-athlete, I experienced some major adversity in my life and I quickly found out that my life was not built on rock. It was built on sand and spiraling out of control very fast!!! It’s something about adversity (being in a storm) that will get our attention. It was after this particular circumstance, I can remember asking God “WHY DO I DO THE THINGS THAT I DO AND SAY THE THINGS THAT I SAY”?? An amazing thing happened; He showed me!!!! That was over 25 years ago!!!!
WHAT ABOUT YOU? What is the single most motivating factor in your life today? Can you identify that one thing that makes you “do what you do”, and “say what you say” on a regular basis? “WHAT’S IN YOUR BOX?”
People all over this country are suffering because they either do not understand why or have not taken the time to understand “why they do what they do” and “say what they say” on a daily basis.
I’d like to share with you what I have been sharing with college and professional athletes for years. I am absolutely convinced that you will experience a freedom like never before that will lead to a more fruitful and productive life. “ IT’S SIMPLE, BUT IT’S NOT EASY.
